The Best Robot Hoover
The most effective robot hoover will vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its price is surprisingly low and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are great features.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've test. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. As with other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they utilize smart mapping technology to design precise floor plans and eliminate home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our first option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and works while you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad to a dry one in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30

It also has a self-emptying dustbin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted area to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is great for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a decent cleaning job on a variety of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds and cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy models of the competitors. It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with a simple mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and some additional cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the home based on how dirty these areas are.
For larger houses it's recommended to choose models with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home via the app or voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. Finally a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might think from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums that we've tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
